Just two words have been used by the Fiji Human Rights Commission Chairperson Dr. Shaista Shameem to describe the support by an NGO for the establishment of a new Fiji Human Rights Council.
When Fijivillage spoke to Dr. Shaista Shameem on the Pacific Centre for Public Integrity supporting the call by Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi to establish a Fiji Human Rights Council, she only had this to say.
PCPI Director Angie Heffernan said the Fiji citizens since the military takeover, have been defrauded of their rights by the very institution created to protect and advance human rights in Fiji.
Ratu Joni revealed in Auckland last week that plans are now underway to set up a Fiji Human Rights Council as the Fiji Human Rights Commission is not doing its job to date.
