As the termite Bio Security task force is expected to receive technical assistance from the Secretariat of the Pacific Community today, they continue to use limited resources to carry out their job.

As of yesterday, a total of ten thousand and fifty five houses have been checked with eight hundred and ninety nine homes infested, sixteen schools infested along with one thousand nine hundred and ninety trees infested.

Taskforce spokesperson, Rosa Dali-tuicama said the assistance from SPC is technical, adding that they are still awaiting a budget increase from Government.

At the moment, the officers are marking the point of entry for the termites and Dali-tuicama said once Government has approved their $5million request, they will be able to buy the bait stations and medicine needed to kill these termites.

The Taskforce had initially been allocated $700,000 from Government.

SPC is expected to hold the handing over ceremony this hour in Lautoka.
