American Teofimo Lopez scored the most significant victory of his brief career, scoring a unanimous decision win over Vasiliy Lomachenko to become the undisputed lightweight champion of world boxing.

The judges scored the fight 116-112, 119-109, 117-111.

Lopez retained the IBF title and claimed Lomachenko’s WBC franchise, WBA and WBO titles.

Lopez did the most of his damage in the early rounds and thereafter withstood a barrage from his Ukrainian opponent considered one of the most technically sound fighters in the history of the sport.

Known as a knockout artist, Lopez (16-0, 13 knockouts) showed uncommon technical brilliance of his own, particularly the 12th and final round.
