Police are hunting for a group of men who broke into a Mandir in Field 40, Lautoka, and later set it alight this morning.
Divisional Crime Officer Western SP Vijay Singh has confirmed the fire started at around five this morning and the Gangai-Yamman Kovil Mandir has been completely burnt down with all its contents.
The Mandir was built more that 80 years ago.
Fijivillage spoke to some people who were at the scene, they said that all the religious idols and books have been completely destroyed.
Police believe the thugs were looking for money and when they did not find any, they set the Mandir alight.
The cost of damage is yet to be estimated.
