Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni has denounced certain media reports that the police have threatened to arrest the Director of Public Prosecutions and his assistant.
Commodore Teleni said these are misleading statements as he has been in close consultations with the DPP and there was no threat made.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the DPP is handling the case regarding the alleged plot to assassinate the Interim Prime Minister, some members of the RFMF and the interim cabinet.
Sources within the DPP's office have confirmed that they are filing the charges against the first group of individuals who are facing various charges in relation to the alleged assassination plot.
Our source has confirmed that there is no truth in the media reports that the DPP refused to file the charges, and the proof is that the charges are currently being filed by the DPP's office before the case goes ahead. The source says that it’s sad that rumor has been turned into a story, and they are in the process of contacting the media outlets.
