Police Commissioner, Commodore Esala Teleni has today defended the Police Force's actions yesterday at Rishikul Sanatan College.
Commodore Teleni said they did not break any law by arresting the Manager of Rishikul Sanatan College, Vijay Nair, some committee members, and reporters and cameramen of Fiji TV for allegedly hindering the work of the police officers at Rishikul.
The Rishikul Sanatan Collage Management will now write to the Ministry of Education demanding that the current School Principal, Mahendra Pal be removed from the school within the next seven days.
School Manager, Vijay Nair said they have agreed to open the school but they still do not want Mahendra Pal to be the school Principal.
When asked by Village News on the reasons why the Management is unhappy with Pal, Nair only revealed that teachers and parents do not want him anymore.
The Fiji Teachers Union has stressed that Rishikul Sanatan College Principal, Mahendra Pal has good leadership qualities and has performed well over the last four years.
General Secretary, Agni Deo Singh said Pal was the Principal of a number of schools and these schools made vast improvements.
Singh has called on the Rishikul management not to hinder the studies of the students.
