Interim Defense Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau is concerned about the outburst made by Police Commissioner Esala Teleni at the Nasova Barracks recorded on national television last night where he threatened to sack or replace Indo-Fijian senior officers if they continued to oppose his Christian crusade and had allegedly gone to the media.

Ganilau said it is a serious matter because Teleni comes under his ministry and he will meet with him today to hear the real reasons behind his outburst.

On national television last night, Teleni was seen issuing a directive to the senior officers, not to run to the press if they encountered problems adding, if they did, there was no place for them in the force.

He said they could be sacked if they were not loyal to him.

In the TV footage, Teleni is also seen calling the officers “liumuri” or backstabbers.

Fijivillage tried contacting Teleni this morning about the incident, however, his mobile was switched off.
