It is unclear at this stage whether police will go ahead to investigate the complaint lodged by the members of the Soqosoqo Duavata Ni Lewenivanua (SDL) party at the Raiwaqa Police Station yesterday.
Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni said he has received the file and declined to comment any further saying that people should wait for the court ruling of the case filed by ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase against Commodore Frank Bainimarama.
When questioned by Fijivillage whether he will step aside to allow an independent investigation to be carried out as requested by the members of the SDL party, Commodore Teleni stressed that he will not do so.
The SDL party lodged a police complaint against Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama and members of the Military Council for alleged treason yesterday.
Earlier in the day, Commodore Teleni said the SDL party should understand that the matter is already before the courts and he stressed that the Police will not allow the party to try and cause instability in the country.
