Consumers can expect a reduction in telecommunication and internet charges in another four to five weeks.
This has been confirmed by Commerce Commission Chairman, Dr Mahendra Reddy who met with FINTEL officials yesterday and said there are certain technical issues which needs to be looked into and this is expected to take some time.
He added that they are now waiting for a submission from FINTEL.
Reddy said the commission also visited the landing station in Vatuwaqa yesterday to examine the actual layout of the landing station and how they access the landing station.
The Commerce Commission has carried out an investigation and based on their findings will now decide how much FINTEL can charge telecommunication and internet service providers for use of the Southern Cross cable.
