The Telecom Fijiana thrashed Tonga 62‑0 and Cook Islands 48‑0 in its two pool matches of the Oceania 7s tournament in Auckland earlier this afternoon.

With this performance, Fiji is looking good to qualify for the Rio Olympics next year.

Fiji’s next game against Samoa is at 6.10pm and the last pool match against PNG will be at 10.22am tomorrow.

The winner of the tournament will automatically qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The teams that finish second and third in this tournament will have a second chance to qualify for Rio Olympics as they will qualify for the World Rugby final qualifying tournament that is expected to be played in June next year.

Meanwhile, in the mens competition, Australia thrashed Cook Islands 46-7, Samoa hammered American Samoa 50-0 while Tonga beat Nauru 45-0.

The winner of the mens competition will also qualify for the Rio Olympics.
