The son of New Zealand Sevens coach Gordon Tietjens has been named in the Manawatu Sevens rugby team that will travel to the Digicel Suva International Sevens.

Coach Paul Claridge has named Paul Tietjens in his 12 member team for the Suva International which also has six other players who have represented the side in the New Zealand Sevens.

Players like Nigel Hunt, Karl Byson, Robert Thompson, Michael Rowe and Brendan Clare will strengthen the team.

Former Nasinu Fifteens rugby rep Paula Maisiri will assist the coaching staff as technical adviser.

Manawatu is in pool D with PNG, Suva and Wardens.

They are playing Suva in their opening pool game on Thursday at 6.23pm.

The opening pool game will see PNG taking on Wardens at 4.40pm.
