A teenager charged with twelve counts of damaging property and larceny will be spending the next six years of his life behind bars after he was sentenced by Suva Magistrate Elsie Hudson today.

The court heard that between 20th July to September 12th this year, Samuela Peni damaged several taxis and private vehicles and in the process stole taxi meters, cash and car speakers.

Peni pleaded guilty to the charges and in mitigation informed the court that he is only 18 years old, single and unemployed.

He was earlier sentenced to seven years, however considering the two months he spent in police custody, Magistrate Hudson reduced the sentence to six years and ten months.
