A teenager charged with the murder of a former Fiji resident in New Zealand yesterday, appeared in the Manukau Youth Court today and has been remanded into special welfare custody until next Tuesday.

The New Zealand Herald reports that the youth was charged with the murder of 22 year old shop assistant Saishwar Krishna Naidu in his parent’s South Auckland Dairy yesterday.

The accused name cannot be published.

He was arrested after members of the public chased him from the dairy and tackled him. Naidu is believed to have tried to stop an aggravated burglary in the shop, when he was allegedly stabbed several times.
