The management of the Digicel Fiji 7s team is awaiting word on the visa applications of the three military personnel in the final 12 member team.
Yesterday coach Iliesa Tanivula named Navy duo, Waqabaca Kotobalavu along with Nikola Matawalu and Army officer Dale Tonawai in his squad.
Speaking after the announcement, Tanivula said that he named an experienced pack to lead Fiji’s campaign at the Hong Kong Sevens next Friday and is hopeful that the same squad makes it to Australia.
He added although they are hopeful of getting clearance, there is a plan B in place.
It is understood that due to the travel sanctions in place for the military and navy officers, the non-travelling reserves are expected to replace Tonawai, Kotobalavu and Matawalu for the tournament in Adelaide as a backup.
The Hong Kong Sevens kicks off next Friday and Fiji is pooled with Kenya, Russia and Malaysia.
