Team Fiji officials have drawn up a strategic plan to improve its medal tally at the Pacific games in New Caledonia.
Fiji finished fourth in the 2007 games and this was a direct result of losing 25 prospect gold medals in various sports to countries like, New Caledonia, Tahiti and Samoa.
Team Fiji Deputy Chef De Mission, Christopher Yee said it again be an uphill battle as New Caledonia is hosting the games.
The Pacific games start on Saturday and the Fiji soccer team will be first to represent Fiji with their first pool match against Tahiti at 4pm.
