Team Fiji today increased their lead in the medal tally after bagging another four Gold medals at the Pacific Mini Games.
Sprint Queen Makelesi Bulikiobo and Niko Verekauta proved that they are the King and Queen of the track after they both bagged a Gold medal each in the 200m finals this afternoon.
Sprint Queen Makelesi Bulikiobo bagged her third Gold medal after winning the 200m finals, the Silver going to Paulini Korowaqa and Anameli Navulitu settling for the Bronze.
Niko Verekauta took out the Gold in the 200m crossing the line at 21.33sec, silver going to Banuve Tabakaucoro as he finished on 21.7sec and Tevita Nalovo taking the Bronze after he crossed at 22.16 seconds.
Both Verekauta and Bulikiobo have each won 3 Gold medals and both are aiming for 5 Gold medals altogether.
Long distance 800m Gold medalist and Australian based Kavita Maharaj bagged her second Gold medal after winning the Open 1500m, while Salote Naiula took the Silver medal. 5.05sec.
Fiji's third Gold medal today came from Soko Salaniqiqi in the Women's Heptathlon.
Meanwhile, Team Fiji's Netball team is only a game away from defending their Gold medal after they beat Cook Islands in the semifinals by 52-20.
The Unaisi Rokoura coached side will now go on to meet the winner from the PNG nad Tokelau match in the finals tomorrow.
- Team Fiji Mens Pairs and Triples teams beat the Tokelau in the Round 4 of competition that was held today.
In the Mens Bowling in the Pairs, Team Fiji won 10-10, 14-0 and in the Triples Fiji beat Tokeleau 10-4, 11-4.
The Team Fiji Ladies Pairs team beat Niue 10-2, 10-4 and the Triples team beat Tokelau 11-3, 9-8.
The Fiji Mens Table Tennis team beat New Caledonia in the semifinal this morning.
The Womens Table Tennis team will go on to meet Vanuatu for the Gold medal tomorrow.
In other games played today, the Fiji Men's Touch Rugby team took home the silver medal after going down to hosts Cook Islands in the finals by 9-4, while the Bronze went to Samoa.
Looking at the medal tally Fiji still leads with 12 Gold, 8 Silver and 10 Bronze, Tahiti is second on 7 Gold 6 Silver and 2 Bornze and New Caledonia is third on 5 Gold, 7 Silver and 5 Bronze.
