Team Fiji expected to win more medals
They currently lie in 5th place on the medal tally with 16 gold, 25 silver and 25 bronze.
Outrigger canoeing is confident of winning two gold medals this afternoon after a good start in the first day of the Outrigger canoeing competition.
Team Coach Colin Philip said most of their teams' are in the final today.
Meanwhile Fiji athletes also started the Athletics competition well. Isireli Naikelekelevesi and Torika Odro are through to the 800 meters final.
Team manager Joe Rodan is happy with their performance so far.
The 100 meters heats will be on this afternoon with Jone Delai, Iowane Dovumatua and Jone Mudu in action for Team Fiji.
Meanwhile, Fiji women’s soccer team defeated Solomons 3-0 today while Papua New Guinea beat Cook Islands 4-1. Both Fiji and Papua New Guinea are through to the semifinals to be played on Thursday.
The Fiji men’s soccer team will play New Caledonia in their final pool match at 2pm today.
In Volleyball...The Fiji men’s and women’s volleyball side remains in contention for the medal playoffs. Fiji men’s side defeated Tokelau 3 sets to love and the women’s team defeated American Samoa 3-0.
