The Education Ministry is yet to formally inform all teachers above the age of 55 years that they will have to vacate office by this Thursday.

It has been confirmed that the Ministry heads are currently meeting with the Permanent Secretary Filipe Jitoko before they are expected to send out letters to officially inform the teachers who are above 55 years of the handing over of their duties before they retire later this week.

The Education Ministry heads are now in the process of re-assigning other teachers to fill the posts which will be left vacant.

It was earlier confirmed that an estimated 1000 teachers in primary and secondary schools are expected to retire from the civil service this week.
