The Education Ministry has called on teachers to counsel students so that they are not involved in brawls and unruly behavior after school.

Minister Filipe Bole's comment comes after students of some prominent schools were involved in brawls at the Suva bus stand for the past two Fridays.

Bole said the Ministry was informed by police about the brawls and according to the Minister such unwarranted conduct stems from sports rivalries amongst these schools.

Bole has also called on parents to talk to their children and remind them of the importance of school rules.

Meanwhile, officers from the Fiji Police Force visited a number of prominent Secondary schools in Suva yesterday following the reported brawls.

Assistant Spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said they met with the School Principals on the issue.

He added that they are also investigating the brawls at the Suva Bus stand, and officers will be patrolling the Suva bus stand area this Friday.
