With four days remaining before the start of term three, the heads of the Principal and Headteacher's Association are both calling on school heads to ensure contingency plans are put in place now to counter unplanned water cuts.
The call comes after Education Minister Filipe Bole yesterday requested school committees and managements whose school usually face water shortages to make the necessary arrangements, if there is no water supply at the school, so that it does not affect studies when school resumes next week.
Bole stressed that students and teachers should not be running around on the first day looking for water as this is the school management and committee's task.
Fiji Principals Association President Vinod Naicker said given the importance of term three, school managements and committees should heed this call and act now.
President of the Head Teachers Association J P Narayan said school heads should always be well prepared for unplanned water cuts.
