Two teachers unions in the country have reached an agreement for teachers not to register under the Fiji Teachers Registration Board.
The General Secretary for Fiji Teachers Union, Agni Deo Singh said that they have signed an agreement with The Fijian Teacher Association under which they are calling on the teachers not to sign any forms until further notice.
Interim Minister for Education Filipe Bole had earlier said that once the legislation comes into effect, all existing teachers as well as new teachers will be required to register with the Fiji Teacher Registration Board over a period of three months for provisional registration.
He said a person not fully complying may be given a provisional registration for certain period subject to conditions, and the board reserves the right to cancel the registration of any teacher for any good reason the board determines.
