A 26 year old primary school teacher has pleaded guilty to five counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and 21 counts of common assault in the Labasa Magistrates court this afternoon.

Sekope Kacimaiwai assaulted 26 students with a hose pipe in a school in Saqani last week and a parent lodged a complaint with the police.

Kacimaiwai informed the Magistrates court that he did not try to cause any injuries but was trying to teach the students a lesson because they had not listened to him when he asked them not to do something.

He got wild and punished them.

He asked for forgiveness.

Kacimaiwai has been released on bail on the sum of 1000 dollars with surety and will be sentenced on 16th July.

He has been ordered not to commit any offence while on bail.
