A 43 year teacher from Savusavu appeared before Magistrate Elsie Hudson today charged with indecently assaulting a woman who is alleged to be a close relative.

The plea has been deffered as the Prosecution will have to amend the charges to attempted rape.

The court heard on the 29th of last month at Samabula, the teacher who was in Suva approached the woman at her home and asked her to spend the night as he was drunk, when the alleged incident happened.

The case will be recalled on the 17th of this month where a plea is expected to be taken.

Meanwhile, Nausori Police arrested a 52 year old woman yesterday for allegedly being in possession of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

The woman was allegedly found with 44 sachets and 6 rolls which is believed to be marijuana.

The marijuana leaves have been sent to Koronivia Research station for analysis.

Police believe the woman was allegedly selling marijuana rolls from her home.
