A Class 3 student of Nabua Sanatan Primary School was allegedly beaten up by his teacher yesterday after he walked out of the classroom to drink water.

His parent Wasant Raju said when his son came home yesterday, he showed the marks on his backside and the young boy was also scared to go to school today.

However Raju forced his son to go to continue with his education.

He said he approached the teacher and the head teacher today about the alleged incident.

Raju said the head teacher and the teacher apologized to him and his son but the father is not satisfied and he wants the teacher to be taken to task.

The head teacher of Nabua Sanatan Primary School confirmed the alleged incident when approached by Fijivillage News.

She said an internal investigation has been carried out and the matter will be referred to the Ministry of Education by this afternoon.

Corporal punishment is illegal in Fiji.
