A total of 350 taxis in the North have been serviced with many more queuing up to have their taxi meters calibrated this morning.

There are only two outlets in Labasa that calibrate taxi meters, Safeway Electronics and Kinsten Electronics, that are servicing over 700 taxis registered in the North.

Safeway Electronics Manager Tauz Khan revealed that they have so far calibrated 250 taxis in Savusavu and Labasa and there are currently 20 taxis lined up in Labasa.

Meanwhile, the other company that looks at calibrating meters, Kinsten Electronics revealed that they have done 100 meters in Labasa and expect more as there is over 700 taxis in the North.

Both companies say that taxis in the Central and Western Division has been calibrated.

The Land Transport Authority reveals that all taxis have until tomorrow to have their taxi meters calibrated or face a maximum fine of $200 or even appear in court.
