The Fiji Taxi Union has welcomed the increase in taxi fare however the Acting General Secretary said that the Union has not received everything it had asked for.
Shammi Kapoor said they met with the Land Transport Authority officials this morning who explained to them about the fare increase thoroughly. He said they were also told to file their submission for the demands not approved later this year.
The flag fall rate of taxis will increase from $1 to $1.50 in the day while the flagfall rate or the starting rate will be $2.00 from 10pm to 6am. Waiting charges for taxis will also increase from the current 10 cents for every 2 minutes to 10 cents per minute from tomorrow.
