The Fiji Taxi Union is calling on all the taxi operators operating within the metered zone in Nausori, Suva, Sigatoka, Nadi and Lautoka to use taxi meters within the radius of 16km.
Union's General Secretary Rishi Ram said they are making the request after having a meeting with the Land Transport Authority on the matter.
The LTA are expected to comment later on the matter.
