Tavua to miss out on BOG
Tavua has been eliminated from next month’s tournament based on a protest decision which was filed by Nadroga.
The protest was filed that Tavua had fielded Lovneel Pratap against Nadroga in a National Soccer League match despite the fact that Pratap was carrying two yellow cards and should have missed the match.
But, according to Tavua Soccer president Shalendra Roy, his team had not received anything in writing from the Fiji Football Association that Pratap has to serve his suspension.
Roy confirmed he will take the matter to arbitration.
Fiji FA’s chief executive officer Bob Kumar said they have to go with the decision as the teams were told way before that only eight teams will play in the BOG.
Kumar added Tavua should not have fielded Pratap against Nadroga.
Since its inception in 1978, Tavua has played in all BOG tournaments and also settled as runners up in 1996 and 1999.
