Tavua Primary celebrates 75th anniversary
Initially known as Tavua Indian Primary School and established in 1921 with 30 students, it was not recognized as a school until it officially registered in 1935.
Following a proposal from the Education Ministry in 1960 that the school was a multi-racial school, the school changed it's name from Tavua Indian Primary school to Tavua Primary school.
Head Teacher, Manormani Anand said the school boasts a roll of prominent public figures such as James Dutta who attended in the 1960's, former ex- parliamentarian Pratap Chand, former Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhary and Tavua lawyer Chandra Singh.
Anand said the school has faced and are facing a lot of challenges adding that during the three day programme they hope to raise funds and construct a walkway that will shelter the students during rainy weather.
The Platinum Jubilee celebrations ends on Saturday with number of activities organized.
