Tavua soccer coach Lambert Sarju has blamed the conditions of Thompson Park for his side's opening round loss to Navua in the FMF/Blue Gas battle of the Giants soccer tournament.
Sarju said the game should not have gone ahead in such conditions, as they could hardly see any grass on the ground which was mostly covered with the sand.
Navua soccer coach Gurjeet Singh also said because of bad ground conditions, his overseas imports Commins Menapi and Stanley Waita have failed to impress.
Meanwhile, in the first round games played over the weekend, Navua beat Tavua 2-0, Vodafone Labasa defeated Nasinu 3-0, Lautoka also won their match over Nadroga by 2-0 while Nadi and Rewa were held to a 1-all draw.
