Strong winds and rain has prompted residents in Taveuni to rush to shops to stock up on their emergency supplies.

Champak Lal the owner of Meridian shop in Taveuni said that after hearing the news over the radio, people started stocking up and putting shutters up.

People living in Nawadamu Housing, Labasa have started to prepare for the worst.

A resident Yogesh Lal said that people have started to move to higher ground as the weather is getting worse.

Lal said Naqai, Navila, Tovata and Wasavulu are flood prone areas and if the weather gets worse it is likely that these areas will get flooded.
