As the final day of meetings of the Forum Ministerial Contact Group gets underway this morning, the head of the group, Tongan Foreign Minister Sonatane Taumoepeau Tupou is confident that the interim government can take Fiji forward.
Although the Electoral Commission gave no timeframe for the next elections yesterday, Taumoepeau Tupou said there is always time to have elections and things will fall into place.
The contact group members including Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith, his New Zealand counterpart Winston Peters and Taumoepeau Tupou also met with some members of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji.
When questioned on whether the NCBBF through the People's Charter should bring about electoral reforms, the Tongan Foreign Minister said the issues are definitely connected but he refused to comment further.
