The taps remain dry in certain areas.

Residents of Tamavua, Wailoku, Delainavesi, Lami and Veisari may continue facing water cuts throughout today.

Divisional Water Engineer Central Eastern Sereicocoko Yanuyanurua believes the breaking down of one of the pumps at the Waimanu pumping station was due to low water levels at the river leading towards the station and as a result the pump was running dry last night.

He added they are still investigating to identify other factors that may have led to the breaking down of the pump.

He said two new pumps were installed last year and there is another pump at the station which is about twenty years old.

The Water Department is hopeful of normalizing water supply in Namadi Heights and parts of Samabula by later today.

Six trucks are currently carting water in affected areas.
