Current Digicel Fiji 7s coach Iliesa Tanivula will be given a fulltime role as the national 7s coaching director in the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) for the next IRB 7's series.

FRU board chairman Bill Gavoka said they will wait for Tanivula to complete the season with his Nadi side in defending the Digicel Cup and Farebrother Sullivan trophy before he will be given the job.

Gavoka said they need Tanivula to focus in the development of the 7s rugby code which he has not been able to do as he was only employed by the FRU to coach the Fiji team to the IRB 7s series and World Games.

In the past 6 months as 7s coach, Tanivula help Fiji to win the Hong Kong and Scotland 7s in the IRB 7s series where they finished in the second spot in the points table.

In his last outing he defended the World Games title in Taiwan last month and now is in charge of taking the team to the Mini Games in the Cook Island.

Gavoka added with this role, Tanivula will work closely with the new Fiji 15s rugby coach to take rugby to new heights.
