Plans to start talks with the various Unions concerned in the laying off of 170 workers of the Government Supplies Department has not eventuated so far.

Speaking to Village news, Public Service Commission Chairman said he is not aware of any meeting taking place and added that the negotiations have been left with Permanent Secretary, Taina Tagicakibau.

However, Tagicakibau had in an earlier interview with Village News revealed that as soon as the 2008 National Budget which was to be announced on the 23rd of last month was completed then only would they sit down with the various Unions.

Tagicakibau is expected to comment later today on the issue.
