New Zealand Prime Minister, John Key has revealed that discussions are on-going between Fiji's Foreign Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola and his NZ counterpart Murray McCulley to see the return of a NZ High Commissioner to Fiji.

Key has told Radio Tarana in NZ that there are about 20 thousand visas issued to Fiji in a year and having a High Commission in operation in Suva is important.

Key also reveals that he is in the process of sending Fiji's Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimaramaa a letter to try to engage in dialogue.

He stresses that they are not anti-Bainimarama.

Key said NZ is prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure that democracy is restored in Fiji.

He said it could even be through financial and human resource assistance.

The New Zealand Prime Minister then goes on to say that it is not for NZ to dictate the rules that should be in place for Fiji.

However they do want genuine engagement with all the stakeholders including the political parties.

Key said if the political parties are not part of the talks then New Zealand's views will not be sustainable.
