Talk to Defense Ministry says Naupoto
Commander Viliame Naupoto said Kinivuwai was allowed to leave the country a few months ago to attend a meeting and this can be arranged again.
However, he said Kinivuwai has to speak to the ministry.
Naupoto said there seems to be a lot of confusion as there was no handwritten letter given to the Immigration Department to block Kinivuwai.
He maintained that the SDL National Director has been on the blacklist since early last year and the details were written out for him on who he should contact based on the information on the watchlist.
Naupoto said Commodore Teleni was the contact specified as he was the Deputy Commander at the time.
However, Kinivuwai said he still wants to know why he is on the Immigration Department blacklist and cannot leave Fiji.
Kinivuwai said the SDL party was denied the right to air their concerns about what is happening in Fiji, in the meeting he was supposed to attend in Australia.
Police confirm that the letter was not written by Commodore Esala Teleni and they are now investigating how the handwritten letter was obtained by Immigration officers which they used to stop Kinivuwai from leaving the country on Sunday.
