The Lautoka zone athletics meet which starts today is expected to bring out some of the best athletes for the Fiji finals.

Some of the athletes to lookout for in the Lautoka zone include two sisters from Nadarivatu who will spearhead Jasper Williams High schools campaign.

Mereseini Naidau won the 1,500 meters open girls event last year at the Coca Cola games while her sister, Sereima Liku won the girls senior 800 meters event.

Both will be in action at the zone meet today at Churchill Park.

Other athletes to lookout for include Ashneel Dutt of Tilak High school who won gold in the Junior boys 200 meters event at the Fiji finals last year.

Dutt will be running in the inter grade this year in the 100, 200 and 4 by 100 meters relay events.

Meanwhile, Central College Lautoka is trying its best to get the release of Don Raj who is in the National Under 17 football camp in Ba.

Raj settled for bronze in the boys 800 meters junior grade last year at the Coke games.

The Lautoka zone meet begins at 9.45am today with Natabua High school defending the boy’s title while Jasper Williams High School will defend the girl’s title.
