Takiveikata takes witness stand
Ratu Inoke, who is charged with 7 others for allegedly conspiring to kill the Prime Minister Commodore Bainimarama was asked by Defence Counsel Akuila Naco if he could recall in September, 2007 when Lance Corporal Peniasi Kuli approached him.
Ratu Inoke told the court he could not recall the date but it was after dinner while he was waiting for transport to attend the meeting at businessman, Ballu Khan=s house.
Ratu Inoke said that Kuli told him that there was a group within the Military that had already set up a plan to assassinate the Military Commander.
Ratu Inoke said that Kuli told him that a lot of people supported the Qaranivalu including overseas diplomats.
Naco asked Ratu Inoke what was his response to Kuli=s statement and he said he did not accept Kuli=s explanation and told him not to visit him again.
However, Ratu Inoke said he asked Kuli if he wanted to go to Ballu Khan=s house and Kuli said yes.
Naco asked Ratu Inoke what was discussed in the meeting at Khan=s house.
Ratu said there was never a meeting as there were renovations underway at Khan=s house and also on his swimming pool.
Ratu Inoke continues to give his evidence this afternoon.
