Naitasiri High Chief, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata has a case to answer.

In making a ruling this morning in Court on the application of “No Case to Answer”, High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar said there is sufficient evidence against Takiveikata and that he has a case to answer.

Takiveikata is charged with one count of inciting mutiny between 6th August and 24th September 2000 where it is alleged that he knowingly incited Captain Shane Stevens and Sergeant Manoa Bonafasio to unlawfully take over Queen Elizabeth Barracks.

Takiveikata’s lawyer, Filimoni Vosarogo made submission last week that the prosecution has so far failed to prove that Takiveikata incited Captain Shane Stevens and Sergeant Manoa Bonafasio to take over the QEB on 2nd November 2000.

The matter will again be called this afternoon.
