Silver Ferns coach Waimarama Taumaunu said playing in the Oceania Netball Tri-Series is vital for their build up towards the Netball World Cup in Sydney in August 2015.
Taumaunu added that the players are excited about coming to play two of the Pacific’s best in the sport and they will continue to build on key combinations and build significant depth in their squad.
Being ranked number two in the world, Taumaunu believes taking on the Fiji Pearls at their home turf will be a hard task for the ferns and they will need to be on top of their game.
Some prominent players who are expected to feature for the Silver Ferns include Maria Tutaia, Catherine Latu, Laura Langman, Katrina Grant and Jodi Brown.
The Silver Ferns are expected to arrive in the country this Friday. Whilst in Fiji, Silver Ferns coach Waimarama Taumaunu and assistant coach Vicki Wilson will also offer their expertise to local Fijian coaches.
The Fiji Pearls will take on the Silver Ferns in the opening match of the Oceania Netball Tri Series at 6.40pm next Monday at the Vodafone Arena.
