Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said he assumed executive authority in December 2006 to prepare the politicians in Fiji to lead the nation.
In a rare interview with Australian broadcaster SBS One Dateline which was aired in Australia at the weekend, Commodore Bainimarama spoke to Mark Davis on the upcoming Pacific Islands Leaders Forum and his plans to take Fiji forward.
Commodore Bainimarama said the politicians failed the people and that is why he took drastic steps on December 5th, 2006.
Bainimarama also said he wants the politics of Former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase to become irrelevant.
Bainimarama said Fiji cannot wait twenty years to bring about the required reforms and only the military can achieve these radical changes.
