Hurricanes rugby Head Coach, Chris Boyd says they are trying to get the momentum out of what they achieved last year but it is a new group so they have to go back to the start again.
Boyd went on to say that the general rule with teams and their past performances was that you "take the positives and bury the negatives."
Boyd nominated midfield and lock as areas where the team are still some way from having certain starters.
Ma'a Nonu, Conrad Smith and Jeremy Thrush have left considerable gaps in those respective areas and, while some talented players have come in, there's no‑one that absolutely demands to play in their place.
Hurricanes are still a franchise without a title.
