As we go into the weekend when people have a habit of going to the markets to buy seafood, the Suva City Council is reiterating its call for people to take precaution when buying pre-cooked food.

This is after the death of a woman and hospitalisation of two people after they bought and ate pre-cooked food from the market.

The Health ministry is working with municipalities on the prevention of these types of cases adding they met with the Suva City Council on the matter, of which a report will soon be released.

The Council has sent samples of the suspected contaminated food to USP for analysis.

Meanwhile, Lautoka Special Administrator, Josefa Vucago said they have also placed a ban on sale of pre-cooked sea food at the market and are asking people to be careful.
