Three days to go before we celebrate Diwali, members of the public have been reminded by the National Fire Authority to take extra care during Diwali.

National Fire Authority chief officer, Tupou Saubulinayau said the causes of fire during Diwali is due to carelessness of parents who do not supervise their children playing with fire crackers, matches, or not properly placing candles, prayer diyas and lanterns.

Saubulinayau is requesting that people to use only one item per power socket and do not overload power boards or double adapters.

He added checks should also be carried out on wiring of cords or plugs and if they appear damaged, people must refrain from using them.

He added to dial 911 for fire rescue.
