FASANOC has today advised national netball coach Melissa Walker that she must take her case to Netball Fiji for their urgent consideration in accordance with Netball Fiji's rules.

The FASANOC Appeals Tribunal met to consider the appeal yesterday, and because its terms of references are confined to appeals from athletes, not the team officials, the Tribunal held that it did not have jurisdiction to deal with Walker's appeal.

FASANOC received legal advice that it has no other channels for dealing with this issue, therefore this dispute must be left for Walker and Netball Fiji to resolve.

The selection of athletes and team officials for Team Fiji representation belongs to the relevant federation, in this case, Netball Fiji.

For officials, FASANOC can only approve or disapprove an official in line with their qualifying criteria.

If Netball Fiji does not put an official forward, for inclusion in Team Fiji, FASANOC does not have the right to tell a national federation that it must send that official.

Meanwhile, FASANOC president Vidya Lakhan has urged Netball Fiji to give Walker a fair hearing on the issues she has raised, in the best interests of the Pacific Mini Games netball team.
