Take care during typhoid scare-Health Ministry
Director Health Programs and Training, Dr Timaima Tuiketei said typhoid is a bacterial infection and passed from human to human when we don't have the proper basic human needs as a good water supply, proper sanitation and good personal hygienic practices.
Tuiketei said there must be proper waste disposal, proper toilet facilities adding that we must wash our hands thoroughly with soap and free flowing water.
She adds we must also ensure that we eat fruits and vegetables and make sure that they are washed thoroughly and to make sure that it is well cooked.
So far, Health Authorities in Rakiraki have treated more than 100 diarrhea cases with 12 of these confirmed to be typhoid.
Therefore, Ra Acting Sub Divisional Medical Officer, Doctor Jone Tabuya is also calling on people to always boil drinking water especially during these times.
