Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama stresses that it is extremely important for ordinary members of the public to take full advantage of the draft People's Charter awareness process.

Bainimarama said the usual tactics of manipulating and hoodwinking ordinary people is being practiced by the leadership of the Methodist Church, certain chiefs and a few SDL party executives and supporters.

The Interim PM said these people are trying to hang on to the last straw as his administration makes in-roads in giving a real voice and say to the ordinary people.

Commodore Bainimarama said the principals and vision enshrined in the draft Charter are all about change and empowerment of the common people. He said there are some power hungry ethno-nationalist SDL leaders supported by the leadership of the Methodist Church and some chiefs who would not want ordinary people to be empowered in terms of decision making and aspiring for better things in life.

The Interim PM said these leaders want to continue to remain in power and in the process ensure that the common people remain disenfranchised.
