The women from five villages in Tailevu now have a reason to smile as Minister for Social Welfare and Women, Dr Jiko Luveni handed a total of 10 sewing machines which will see the empowerment and financial development of women there.
The 10 sewing machines is the first set of machines to be handed out from the 750 sewing machines which have been donated to the Fiji Women's Federation by the All China Women's Federation.
The five villages namely Buretu, Nai-vakacau, Matai-noco, Nabou-ciwa and Daku got 2 machines each for the sewing programme in their respective women clubs.
Dr Jiko Luveni while handing over the sewing machines encouraged the Buretu tikina Women's Club to make maximum use of the machines to earn a better living for their families.
