Former athletics long distance champion, Salome Tabuatalei, who only recently took up canoeing, today won the bronze medal in the Wai Tui Fiji Outrigger International canoeing championship at Suva point.

Tabuatalei finished 3rd in the Master Womens V1 500m final while Samoa took out the gold and silver medals.

Fiji made a clean sweep in the U14 girls and U14 boys V1 500m finals winning gold, silver and bronze.

In the U9 girls V1 500m final, Natasha Hughes settled for the bronze medal. Fiji so far has won 2 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze.

The championship continues this afternoon with 250 paddlers from Australia, New Zealand, Samoa and Fiji taking part.
